To place a profile

Profile components such as crown molding, base plates, counter tops and decorative sills can be created from any closed shape profile, and follow linear or curved planar paths. Profiles are stored and selected from a cell library. Profiles are mitred (cleaned up) at intersections and corners. Supports reporting with the Schedules utility.

  1. Select the Place Profile tool. The Place Profile dialog opens.
  2. Select a catalog from the Catalog Selection menu if required to set different than default type. The profile preview displayed as per current catalog type.
  3. Complete the placement settings for the profile. Properties values may be set if any Datagroup Properties need to be different from the default.
  4. Enter a data point in the view. This point defines the placement point of the profile.
  5. Enter a data point to locate the end point of the profile, and reset.

The direction in which the end point is set defines orientation to profile.

When placed along a path element, say wall having door or window objects as openings, the place profile tool will lay profile along the run of the wall leaving the cutouts at the openings.

The profile tool allows you to extrude a cell from the library along a path drawn during the placement or along the path of existing element and report on its length and volume.
